Made for the shade, the SlimShady awning delivers excellent protection from searing sun and sudden showers. It mounts quickly and easily to the side of your roof rack and only takes up six inches of bar space so it won’t crowd your kayaks, cargo boxes, or bikes.

The SlimShady awning is made of lightweight, durable 210D nylon with a polyurethane coating. The light, strong nylon canopy waterproof PU coating sheds light rain and delivers 36 square feet of shady coverage on summer days. The extended canopy measures 6.5 ft by 6.5 ft.

The rigid structure of the awning is comprised of two 6.5 foot sections of extruded aluminum channel. On the backside of one section are tracks where the mounting hardware attaches and slides to perfectly match up with various crossbar spacing. On the inside of the first section are deep channels that house the horizontal extension poles.

The canopy is rolled around the second section of the aluminum channel structure. To deploy the awning, simply unzip the outer PVC cover, release two velcro retention straps and unroll the canopy. Once the canopy is unrolled completely, two vertical telescopic poles housed in the deep channels of the aluminum section can deploy.

To tension the canopy, extend the horizontal poles and insert rods at the tip into corresponding holes in the aluminum channel, lock out the pole with a half twist. Velcro straps keep the canopy sides secured to the horizontal poles.

Included guy ropes are attached to each end of the aluminum structure and extend to the included ground stakes. The guy ropes included friction tensioners so there's no need to tie knots.

The SlimShady quickly mounts to nearly any crossbar, no tools are required for installation. The SlimShady locks to your crossbars with Yakima SKS Lock Cores which are included.
