Loading... Please wait...The Thule 917XTR - T2 - 2 Bike Rack - For 1-1/4 Inch Hitch is the ultimate in bicycle transportation for transporting up to two bicycles. Thule 917XTR uses a solid steel 1-1/4 inch stinger, it can support up to 100 pounds, that's two 50 pound bikes! Bicycles come in many styles and sizes but what every bicycle has in common is that they have two wheels. The Thule T2 supports a bicycle securely by its wheels without contacting the bicycle's frame. Each bicycle sits on its own tray and the bikes are all at the same level from the ground, regardless of the bicycle's size. Load a bike in less than 10 seconds: set the bike in it's tray, ratchet down the hook to the front wheel and then strap down the rear wheel.
Access the rear of most vehicles by simply pulling the spring loaded release lever to tilt the rack down which leans the bikes out of the way of a hatch. The rack also folds up out of the way in between uses. In general, you can expect to have no clearance issue when the end of the vehicle's hitch is flush with the vehicle's bumper, excluding vehicles with rear, vertically mounted spare tires.
What makes the Thule T2 unique among platform carriers? The adjustable platforms allow bikes to be positioned to avoid bike to bike contact, no other platform rack offers this feature. The T2 has the least amount of play in the hinge mechanism due to a unique four bar linkage which uses four hinge points instead of one, plus brass bushings for smooth operation.
Thule goes the extra mile with security by providing convenient bike locking integrated into the front wheel support tube. A heavy guage cable extends from the end of each support tube and wraps around each bicycle's frame individually for very high level security. The rack itself is locked to the vehicle's with the Thule STL Snug Tite lock which provides rack security plus an anti-wobble connection into the hitch. All locks are key match enabling one key operation which is extendable to all lockable Thule products.
