The Thule 699 Round Trip is a rugged ABS plastic travel case designed for safe and secure transport of a bike.  The box is in two halves for easy access and packing.  The two halves overlap each other and strap together snugly with heavy duty straps and snap buckles.  The box has metal clasps that can be locked with user supplied pad locks.  A bicycle must be partially dissembled in order to fit within this UPS shippable case.  Typically, both wheels must be removed, plus the seat/seatpost, pedals and the handlebar/stem.  The case weighs 29 pounds which is fairly light for a hard case with all the extra padding and inner divider.

To determine if this case will accommodate your bicycle, simply disassemble the bike components as detailed above, arrange the items compactly, then measure the outer perimeter.  The case dimensions are 47in. length x 30.5 inch width x 10.5 inch height.  If the measurement of your disassembled and arranged bike is less than the case dimensions than it will fit. 

The Round Trip is tough on the outside but also protects the bicycle from the inside.  Interior tie down points along with straps keep the frame and wheels from shifting.  Two large sections of protective foam and a semi-rigid plastic divider keeps the wheels and frame separated and cushioned.  A special chain wrap device stops the loose chain from clanking around.  A tool bag is included to organize your tools necessary for bike reassembly.  Plus the included tote back is handy to hold the dissembled pedals and seat/seatpost.

Once you're packed up, the case is easily maneuverable with the wheel casters and a grip handle.  Should you need to transport the case on a roof rack a strap system is available, it's called the Thule RFM - Roof Mount Kit and is sold separately.
