The Thule 594XT Side Arm is a heavy duty upright bike carriers that mounts to just about all roof rack cross bars.  The universal mounting hardware even has levelers for factory cross bars that arch across the roof.  The Side Arm upright rooftop bike mount allows you to carry your bicycle without removing the front wheel and the mount does not contact the frame. The patented support arm with ratcheting grip firmly secures bikes front wheel and the rear wheel strap holds the rear wheel firmly in the tray.  The Thule Side Arm carrier is built to handle a bike up to 50 pounds, it can accommodate wide tires up to 2.6 inches 29'er mountain bike wheels.  Because the support arm and ratchet grip do not touch the bike's frame or fork, the carrier will work with lots of frame and fork designs where other carriers miss the mark.  Bike rustlers are out there so the Side Arm has included the options to lock the bike down with the ratchet arm and lock the carrier to the cross bar using Thule's One Key System, requires two lock cylinders which are sold separately.
