Not sure the best way to put your skis or snowboards on your car? We can walk you through your choices.

You will need to know what types of equipment and gear you’ll be carrying. Ski equipment is either carried on the roof or off a hitch bike carrier with a ski attachment. To use a hitch system, you will need a receiver hitch, a compatible bike carrier and Thule hitch ski and snowboard carrier. This is a great choice if you have a hitch and prefer a carrier that does not contact the car. This system is closer to the road and can get dirty, so you’ll need a ski or board bag for long trips. Roof systems are popular because you can carry skis and other gear, the carriers mount at eye-level, and the systems are easy to load.

Once you have selected your mount location, you will have choices on carrier types.

Roof Systems:

Thule horizontal carriers offer the flexibility to carry snowboards and alpine or nordic skis. Thule also offers a snowboard specific carrier that is angled to lift the bindings and allow more room on the vehicle roof. Both of these systems will fit either a Thule load bar system or can be fitted with a clamp to attach to other factory or aftermarket racks. Thule also offers a ski carrier design specifically for vehicles with side rails, and a non-locking carrier for 2 pairs of skis that fits only to Thule bars.
