The Yakima HoldUp transports just about any type of bicycle and does it without contacting the bike's frame.  Bikes are supported by the wheels and are held steady with little or no contact between bikes.  The HoldUp folds up between uses and tilts down to access a rear hatch with up to two bikes loaded.  A Yakima cable lock is included for bike to rack and rack to hitch security.

The Yakima HoldUp is a premium platform hitch mount bike rack, a design which supports bikes by the wheels without frame contact. The heavy-duty construction of the HoldUp supports two bikes weighing up to 60 pounds each, plus two more bikes can be carried with optional HoldUp 2 Bike Add On - sold separately, for 2 inch hitches only. The HoldUp supports the bike in wheel cradles and it's stabilized with a front wheel ratcheting pivot arm with a hook. The wheel cradles fit just about any bicycle tire size, narrow 19mm road bike tires all the way up to 3 inch wide MTB tires and wheel sizes from BMX 20 inch up to 29er's 29 inch.

When bikes are unloaded the HoldUp pivot arms and the front wheel tray folds up for a more compact configuration. Next, the whole platform folds up to improve the clearances behind the vehicle, adding only 14 inches from the hitch pin hole to the back of the rack. The HoldUp has excellent ground clearance with a curved hitch base which positions the platform little higher. With the higher platform there's less likelihood of scraping the bottom of the rack when there's a steep angle of approach.

The HoldUp is security-enabled right out of the box with Yakima's LockDown cable system. The LockDown is a 6 foot looped-end locking cable. Just lasso the cable around your bikes and snap the lock on to the Yakima hitch bolt for bikes and rack security all in one easy step. The HoldUp even has the option to lock the hinge bolt, for those especially concern of a motivated thieves.

History: Updated version of 8002419. Replaced the straight pull pin and lanyard with a spring loaded pull pin, pin automatically goes into place instead of trying to manually insert. Pivot Arms now have a stop at 90 degrees to prevent them from hitting ground and possibly dragging. Rack now tilts down 20 degrees for better access to the rear of the vehicle.
